TOMS is running its Friends and Family sale until October 13. Code FRIENDS30 takes 30% off at checkout, and you’ll earn triple TOMS Rewards points on the same order if you’re signed in. The code won’t stack with any other TOMS discount, so this week it’s the one you’ll be using.
If you’ve only ever bought TOMS for the classic Alpargata slip ons, the fall range might surprise you. There are wedge booties and loafers now, plus a Halloween shop with a pair that glows in the dark. Just know that a single pair probably won’t ship free this week. TOMS counts its $75 free shipping line after the 30% comes off.
TOMS Best Sellers Go For $42 To $70 With FRIENDS30
With 30% off, the best sellers on the homepage come down like this:
- Alpargata Cloudbound in glow in the dark spiders: $60 to $42
- Alpargata Classic in chocolate brown with pumpkins: $70 to $49
- Goldie Wedge Ankle Bootie and Percy Mid Platform Sneaker: $80 to $56
- Marie Loafer and Cara Loafer: $90 to $63
- Astrid Boot, Maude Wedge Boot and Cara Tassel Loafer: $100 to $70
Hmm, so even the $100 boots end up at $70.
The Code Only Works On Pairs Marked 30% Off
The banner says sitewide, but the fine print says the code works on items labeled “30% OFF” on toms.com. You’ll see that label on most of the regular range this week. It only takes a second to check it on the product page before a pair goes in your bag.
The Shop Now button on the sale banner runs through a link with the code already built in. If you start there, FRIENDS30 should be sitting in your bag by the time you check out.
FRIENDS30 Takes $24 Off An $80 Bootie At Checkout
You can see the code at work in the screenshot under this paragraph, on a single pair of Goldie Wedge Ankle Booties:
- Women’s Goldie Wedge Ankle Bootie: $80.00.
- FRIENDS30 discount: -$24.00.
- Subtotal: $56.00.
The $24 shows up as its own line under the item, so you’ll know straight away the code went through. That $56 sits under the $75 free shipping line though, so this order should still pay for shipping unless you’re a Goodest member. If a second pair was on your list anyway, this is the screen where adding it makes sense.
If you signed in before heading to checkout, the triple points will land on this order as well.
Triple Points Only Count When You’re Signed In
Will the triple points still count if you check out as a guest?
They won’t, because TOMS says you have to be logged in to your Rewards account at the time you buy. Making an account only takes a minute, and it signs you up for TOMS Rewards on its own. TOMS adds 10 points just for joining. You can use points on member offers and early access, or put them toward causes TOMS supports.
One Pair Falls Short Of Free Shipping During The Sale
Free shipping at TOMS starts at $75, and the fine print says discounts don’t count toward that minimum. So TOMS measures the $75 after the 30% has come off. Even a $100 boot drops to $70 with the code, which leaves it $5 short of the line.
You’d need about $107 of shoes at full price to stay over $75 after the discount.
Two pairs will usually get you there:
- The $80 bootie and a $70 Alpargata come to $105 after the code.
- Two $60 Alpargatas come to $84.
So if a friend or family member wants a pair too, put both in one order.
Members in the Goodest tier of TOMS Rewards are the exception, since they get free economy shipping on every order. Free shipping only covers economy delivery to the contiguous US, so it doesn’t reach Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Gift Cards, ThredUP Orders And Other Discounts Don’t Count
A few things sit outside the sale, going by the terms:
- Gift cards and e-gift cards.
- Anything on toms.thredup.com, the preloved shop.
- Orders you placed before October 6.
- Other TOMS discounts, so you can’t add the teacher, student, military, healthcare worker or referral offers on top.
Some items also carry a line that says “All sales are final – No returns”. You can’t send those back or swap them, so check for it before buying a size you’re unsure about.
