Cabela’s runs Gear Up For The Season every autumn, and the banner on cabelas.com this year promises up to 50% off. That phrasing does a lot of work.
Up to means the 50% exists somewhere. It does not mean your cart gets near it.
The sale closes on September 16. My read is that it is worth your time, but not for the reason the banner suggests.

Where The Real Cuts Are
Cabela’s discount coupon code times this to the start of the season, so the discounts follow what people are already buying.
Look here first:
- Camo in last year’s patterns rather than this year’s.
- Blinds and treestands on older frame designs.
- Boots and base layers where sizing has gone patchy.
- Anything getting dropped from the catalog.
Expect 20% to 30% on current season stock. The 50% tags hang on a handful of clearance items that were on their way out anyway.
I do not hold that against them. That is just how banners get written. But knowing it up front saves you forty minutes of clicking around for a number almost nothing carries.
The Vortex Deal Nobody Scrolls To

There is a second offer sitting under the main banner, and most people never see it. 20% off all Vortex products, running to September 30.
| Gear Up | Vortex | |
|---|---|---|
| Rate | Up to 50% | Flat 15% |
| Covers | Selected items | Whole brand |
| Ends | September 16 | September 30 |
That one is built better. It covers the whole brand instead of a picked list, so current scopes, binoculars and rangefinders all come down. Optics almost never get touched while they are still current.
A flat rate on everything from one brand beats an up to figure on a shortlist.
On a $500 scope, 15% is $75. And you get two extra weeks to think about it.
Bargain Cave Runs On Its Own Clock
Bargain Cave has its own tab up top. Returns, overstock, discontinued stuff, all of it there year round.
None of it expires on the 16th. If something shows up in both the sale and the Cave, check both prices. The sale does not automatically win.
Couple Of Things Before You Order
- Shipping is free at $50, which most Gear Up carts hit anyway.
- Cabela’s and Bass Pro share a catalog now, so check the other site if something is out of stock.
- The 16th is a Wednesday, so a weekend order is too late.
