Where The Discount Box Sits And What Happens When You Apply The Code
The field is on the right of the checkout, below your list of items and above the subtotal. Type BANKHOLIDAY10, press Apply, and the code turns into a small grey tag with a cross beside it. A line reading TOTAL SAVINGS then appears at the very bottom of the summary with a figure against it, and if that line is missing, the code has not gone on.
Shop Pay and Google Pay both sit at the top of the page, above the email box. Put the code in before you touch either of them, because the discount field belongs to the main checkout and a one tap payment route can carry you straight past it.
The Checkout Will Not Let You Pay Until You Pick A Delivery Date
A pink banner came up telling me to select a delivery date before the order would continue, and there is a calendar lower down the page that you have to click a day on.
If your dates are not fixed yet, the radio button just above the calendar lets you buy now and confirm delivery later.
Why The Savings Line Said £89.76 And Not £109.33
Subtotal after the code was £1,003.51 across seventeen items, savings £89.76, so the basket stood at £1,093.27 before BANKHOLIDAY10 went on. Ten per cent of £1,093.27 is £109.33. I was £19.57 short of that, and ten per cent of £897.60 is £89.76 exactly, which means the code found £897.60 of eligible stock in my basket and ignored the other £195.67.
The extra ten runs line by line against whatever the sale has flagged, so around one pound in every five and a half of mine got nothing.
The checkout will not itemise which lines qualified. Take your own savings figure, multiply it by ten, and that is how much of your basket the code recognised. Anything above that number is stock you are paying the plain sale price on.
- Do you know the prices on the product pages already include VAT? My £1,003.51 had £167.25 of tax sitting inside it, so the figure on the listing is the figure you pay, and the code comes off the gross.
The 70% Sale And The Extra 10% Are Two Separate Reductions
The up to 70% is the Bank Holiday Sale itself and it is already inside the price you see on the product page. BANKHOLIDAY10 then comes off that reduced price, on eligible lines only. The two do not add up to 80%.
4 Accessory Lines Cost Me Just Under £100
A good share of those seventeen items were trims rather than boards. A Lusso lacquered oak T profile at £29.99, the matching scotia beading at £21.79, a ramp profile at £32.59 and a pipe cover at £15.59, all in SS2 so they tone with the floor. That is £99.96 for four small pieces.
A pack of boards covers square metres. A length of scotia covers one wall. Order the trims in the same visit, because they climb faster per item than the flooring does and none of them are optional if you want the edges finished.
How Long The Code Has Left
The counter on the storiesflooring.co.uk homepage was at six days and change when I built this basket, so it runs through the Bank Holiday weekend and closes a couple of days after it.
Free next day samples are there if you want to see the boards in your own light first, but allow for the post, because samples landing after the code expires do not help you.
I typed BANKHOLIDAY10 in, picked a date off the calendar and left it at that.
