Many people view mental health as something to be ashamed of, something to be hidden and never discussed with outsiders. However, in my years working in the mental health field, I’ve become a strong believer in breaking this taboo by speaking up and helping others realize that it’s okay to not be perfect and that it’s okay to talk about their issues and seek help when needed.

If you’re wondering why I find being a mental health support worker so rewarding and beneficial, here are four ways it has impacted my life for the better:

It’s a Job I’m Truly Passionate About

Being a mental health support worker is hands down one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. Not only do I get to directly help people every day, but it’s also something that makes me feel good about myself and the meaning my career brings to other’s lives.

I remember one client, Sarah, who came to me struggling with severe depression and anxiety. She felt hopeless and didn’t know where else to turn. Through our counselling sessions and the coping strategies we worked on together, I was able to make a real impact on Sarah’s life. Seeing her outlook and mental state improve week after week thanks to the support I provided – that feeling is indescribable. Knowing I played a part in her feeling better about herself and getting back on track is what makes this job so fulfilling.

I Have The Opportunity to Make a Real Difference

One of the biggest reasons I love being a mental health support worker is the opportunity to make a concrete, meaningful difference in my client’s lives. Mental health problems are so common and can affect anyone. I’ve worked with clients from all walks of life, of all ages and backgrounds.

For example, I had a teenage client named Mark who was struggling with anger issues and getting into fights at school. His home life was unstable, which was exacerbating his problems. Through anger management techniques and helping connect Mark and his family with community resources, we were able to get his aggressive outbursts under control and help him express his emotions in healthier ways. Mark went from being at risk of expulsion to thriving academically and socially. Seeing that transformation and knowing I played a role in bettering his life trajectory – I can’t describe how much meaning and purpose that brings to my work.

It Challenges Me to Be Creative in My Approach

Being a mental health support worker allows me to be creative in how I engage with clients and develop treatment plans. No two clients are exactly alike, so I’m always having to think outside the box and tailor my methods to the individual.

I had one adult client, David, with schizophrenia who responded best to art and music therapy in conjunction with his regular talk therapy and medication management. Getting creative and integrating his passion for painting and guitar into his treatment was key to his progress. I worked with David to set goals around his art, like working toward putting on a small show of his work. Seeing his face light up as he talked excitedly about his latest creations and how much pride he felt in displaying his work – those are the moments that stick with you and make all the hard work worth it.

I’m Constantly Presented with New Challenges and Opportunities to Learn

Being a mental health support worker means I’m always gaining new skills and knowledge. Each day brings different clients with unique situations, which challenges me to continue growing and learning as a professional and individual.

I remember one week where I was really pushed outside my comfort zone. I had a new client, Lisa, who was struggling with both an eating disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. While I had experience working with each of those conditions separately, navigating the way they intertwined and exacerbated each other was new territory for me.

I had to be flexible in my approach and adapt my usual techniques. I consulted with colleagues who had more experience with eating disorders, did additional research and ultimately collaborated with Lisa’s nutritionist to provide comprehensive, coordinated care. It was a challenging case but also an incredible learning opportunity. Expanding my knowledge and skill set to better help Lisa was so rewarding.

Not every day in this field is easy – there are definitely times I feel stretched thin or overwhelmed. But even the toughest days are always worth it. With each new challenge comes the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

I firmly believe mental health support workers are some of the unsung heroes of our communities. The work we do every single day to support people, to give them hope and tools to improve their lives and to chip away at the stigma and misconceptions around mental illness – it’s so vital. I see the impact on my clients and I know that the more we grow the mental health workforce here in Australia, the better we’ll be able to support the 1 in 5 Australians who experience mental illness each year.

Through sharing my personal experiences, I hope to paint a realistic but ultimately inspiring picture of the challenges and rewards of this career path. My goal is for readers to come away with a deeper understanding of the day-to-day life of a mental health support worker and an appreciation for the importance of this work.

It’s Emotionally Fulfilling Seeing the Difference I Can Make

At the end of the day, witnessing the positive impact I can have on someone’s life and well-being is hands down the most rewarding part of being a mental health support worker. When a client who came to me hopeless and unable to function is now thriving, able to manage their condition and excited about their future – I feel such a sense of pride and purpose in the work I do.

I feel honoured that my clients trust me enough to open up and allow me to walk alongside them on their journey. Seeing them grow, gain confidence, learn new coping skills and improve their quality of life – it never gets old. Knowing I can use my training and compassion to ease someone’s pain and struggles is such an emotional gift.

I Find Deep Fulfillment and Emotional Rewards in This Career

I can say without hesitation that being a mental health support worker is the most fulfilling and emotionally rewarding career path I could imagine. The work I do every day is so vital to the well-being of the people I serve. I play an important role in helping my clients regain their footing after a crisis and also in offering ongoing support as they navigate the ups and downs of life with a mental health condition.

I’ve experienced firsthand the benefits and challenges of this career:

Working with people who have mental illnesses or disabilities (or both) can definitely be emotionally taxing at times. I’ve had days where I come home emotionally drained, carrying the weight of my client’s struggles. But I’ve learned that if I’m able to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with my clients, those challenges eventually give way to incredible opportunities for growth – both for my clients and for myself.

I think about my client Robert, who I worked with for over a year. He had severe bipolar disorder and had been hospitalized multiple times. Building trust with Robert took time – he had been let down by so many people in his life. But as our relationship strengthened, I watched him start to believe in himself again. He became more engaged in his treatment, started setting goals for himself and opened up more in our sessions. Seeing his progress and knowing I played a role in his growth – are the moments that fill my cup and motivate me to keep showing up even on the hardest days.

Over the years, I’ve learned so much about how to approach the various situations that arise in this line of work. I’ve honed my skills in de-escalation, crisis management and trauma-informed care. I’ve learned how to best serve my clients during stressful periods, like the holidays, which can be an especially challenging time for those struggling with their mental health.

Tragically, I’ve also supported families through the devastation of losing a loved one to suicide. Sitting with a parent grieving the loss of their child, holding space for their pain – it’s heartbreaking. But it’s also an incredibly humbling and sacred role to play, to offer support and compassion in someone’s darkest moments. Those experiences have taught me so much about the depths of human resilience.

This job has shaped me as a person in profound ways. It’s made me a better listener, a more patient and understanding friend and family member. It’s given me perspective and humility. Most of all, it’s shown me the power of human connection, empathy and hope.

The emotional rewards of watching someone I’ve worked with closely make major strides in their healing, of seeing the light come back into their eyes – it’s indescribable. I carry those moments with me and they sustain me. They remind me that even in the face of tremendous pain and adversity, transformation and growth are possible. What a gift it is to spend my days helping facilitate that. It truly is a career that nourishes my soul.

Conclusion

Being a mental health support worker is a career path I find incredibly fulfilling on multiple levels. The relationships I’m able to build with my clients, the creative ways I get to approach treatment, the challenges that push me to grow and above all, the ability to improve lives and provide hope – it all combines into a career that brings me both professional and personal satisfaction.

I know firsthand how much hard work goes into this field and the emotional toll it can take. But I also know the immense joy and sense of purpose it can bring. For anyone considering a career as a mental health support worker, I can’t recommend it enough. The opportunity to walk alongside people, many at their lowest points and help guide them to a brighter future – it’s truly special.

I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of the work we do as mental health support workers. In a world with so much stigma and misunderstanding around mental illness, being a compassionate ear, an understanding ally and a healing presence can make all the difference in someone’s life. I feel incredibly lucky to get to do this work every day.

The brain is one of the most critical parts of the human body. It is, in fact, the mastermind behind everything we do. The brain controls each part of the body, so you must take good care of it. You must keep your mind active and sharp if you want to be mentally strong as you age. The mind becomes weak as we age, so you need to take care of your mental health. Now people usually don’t know how to keep their minds fit, that is why we have discussed the best brain exercises to keep your mind sharp in this post.

You might be shocked to read that several brain exercises can help you train and improve your thinking, retention and other mental abilities. However, there’s no need to be shocked, as the brain is just like your other body parts that need to be trained to work properly and improve their capabilities.

Brain exercises can help you keep your mind fit and healthy. Some of the best brain training exercises are discussed in this blog. But before that, let’s help you know why it is important to keep your mind sharp. So, let’s get started without any further delay!

Why is it Important to Train Your Brain?

The brain is an integral part of your body and it controls your voluntary and involuntary actions. If the brain is excluded from your body, you won’t be able to function or even blink your eye. Therefore, it’s essential to keep your brain in a healthy state for properly performing your day-to-day activities.

5 Brain Exercises To Keep Your Mind Sharp

Yoga

Learning New Skills

Puzzle

Aerobic Exercises

Non-dominant hand

Exercising your brain in multiple ways is the best thing that can help you keep your mind sharp and enhance your cognitive skills. So, let’s start discussing them without any further ado!

Do some Yoga

Yoga is not only beneficial for your physical health but also for your mental well-being. You should know that Yoga is being practised all across the globe for the sole purpose of achieving mindfulness. Yoga exercises are vital for good mental health. It can help you improve attention skills, focus, and mental immunity and enhance empathy. Studies have shown that yoga meditation exercises help you increase your working memory skills. You can join Yoga meditation camps, or you can install yoga apps on your mobile and do yoga exercises at home. You would feel relaxed as well as strong because of Yoga.

Learn a New Skill

A very important brain exercise is learning a new skill. If you want to keep your mind active and healthy, you need to be committed. The best way to show your commitment is by involving yourself in learning a new skill. Learning a new skill is the best way to keep your mind engaged and active at all times. Today, you can learn different skills, including learning a new language, playing new instruments, learning a new game, or learning new exercises like swimming. Expanding your mental skills will help you stretch your mind and feel more accomplished. You can see that advanced countries like the US and the UK always promote learning or skills in children and adults.

Try out Brain Games

One of the best brain exercises today for your mind is playing brain games. Brain training games are very important for your mental growth. If you want to have fun and train your mind simultaneously, you need to make sure that you play logic games. Playing mind games would help you develop your mental skills and other cognitive abilities. Today, you can install a puzzle game application on your mobile and enjoy playing dozens of different games under one roof. Brain games for adults are usually categorized into different groups. These would help you improve brain focus, thinking skills, retention, IQ level, logic logic-making skills and test your reflexes. Today, mental health experts always suggest adult brain training games for better sharpening of the mind.

Try Some Aerobic Exercises

Doing aerobic exercises is going to increase blood flow to the brain. These exercises are known to be beneficial for developing the size of the hippocampus. Boosting the size of your hippocampus will help you enhance your memory skills and develop your learning skills. Researchers have determined that people who avoid aerobic exercises have weak minds and are likely to get brain diseases in their old age. Subsequently, people who practice aerobic exercises would always have an active and sharp mind. If you want to enhance your cognitive skills and other mental abilities, we suggest you try some aerobic exercises. You can do homework out of your mind at home by getting relevant workout apps on your device.

Try Writing with Your Non-dominant Hand

Another important brain exercise that would sharpen your mind is practising writing with your non-dominant hand. This is a very interesting brain exercise that we urge you to practice in your free time. Using your opposite hand will be very challenging, which will keep your mind on your toes. If you want to increase your brain activity, you need to make sure that you start writing small text with your other hand. Keep increasing the workload on the non-dominant hand as you feel you are getting comfortable. This mental workout is considered to be very beneficial for strengthening your mind!

FAQs

How long does it take to see results from brain exercises?

The timeline can vary depending on the individual and the type of exercise. Some people may notice improvements in focus or memory within a few weeks, while other benefits may take months to become apparent. Remember, many benefits may not be immediately noticeable but are still occurring.

Can brain exercises improve my work performance?

Yes, many brain exercises can enhance skills relevant to work performance, such as focus, problem-solving, creativity, and memory. Activities like learning a new language or practising mindfulness can also improve communication skills and stress management.

Are brain training apps effective?

While brain training apps can be engaging and provide mental stimulation, their effectiveness is still debated in the scientific community. It’s generally recommended to use these apps as part of a broader cognitive health strategy that includes varied mental and physical activities.

Can physical exercise really improve brain function?

Absolutely. Regular physical exercise has been shown to increase blood flow to the brain, promote the growth of new brain cells, and improve overall cognitive function. Both aerobic exercise and strength training have demonstrated cognitive benefits.

Is it normal to find brain exercises challenging or frustrating at first?

Yes, it’s completely normal. Like any new skill, brain exercises can be challenging initially. Start with easier levels and gradually increase difficulty. The feeling of challenge is often a sign that you’re pushing your cognitive boundaries, which is good for brain health.

Can diet affect the effectiveness of brain exercises?

Yes, diet plays a crucial role in brain health. A balanced diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins can support cognitive function and potentially enhance the effects of brain exercises. Stay hydrated and consider incorporating brain-healthy foods like berries, nuts, and fatty fish into your diet.

End Words

Keeping your body physically fit is important, but that is not the only thing you need to focus on. You need to understand that your mental fitness is as important as your physical health. This is why you need to invest some time and practice brain exercises. The above-mentioned exercises are the best ones because of their mental benefits. The easiest one, no doubt, is playing brain games, so if you cannot take much of your time from your busy schedule, you need to try out the best brain games on your mobile!

Mental illnesses like anxiety, depression, and mood disorders are the trending health problems in the United States of America. Arising proof suggests a positive association of diet and stoutness with depression. Many researchers proved that many times diet-nutrition relationships are responsible for impacting mood. There’s limited analysis on how glycemic load, a characteristic of carbohydrates, impacts mood in healthy adults. Along with good food/nutrient intake, everything in our life is affected by our mood. A pleasant mood and cerebral health are the paramount aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

There is a strong link between a good mood and good energy within the body. A body with a joyous mood and full of energy determines how you carry on your relationships with others in life and how much you care about yourself(your physical health). In simple words, keeping your mental health (mind/mood) in good shape can bring your energy to optimal use and vice-versa. When either of the two plunges, the person should immediately do something to stop getting into worse situations. Otherwise, it can lead to mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.

In this covid-19 era, people are stuck in their work/study from the home culture where no one can keep up with the respected schedules like early times. That’s when White Elephant Kratom powder comes in to help individuals as a remedy against these mental illnesses. It comes in handy users don’t have to take time out for it as they can consume it effortlessly during their work/study time. Being a part of the organic products family, it has a mass following and a vast consumer base. Users in the twenty-first century believe more in organic/herbal treatments for the benefits they carry over Synthetic/allopathic drugs.

What Is Kratom?

It comes from a tropical tree known as Mitragyna speciosa (scientific name), nearly more than 10 meters tall. The leaves of Kratom are broader compared to other organic/herbal drugs. This plant is native to the South Asian countries in the eastern region like Thailand, Myanmar, etc.

The leaves require sunlight of less than or equal to 9 hours a day. It is part of the coffee species/genes and comes under The Rubiaceae family tree. The plant rotation quality comes in handy in this plant, which helps in its good growth.
The chemical present in the plant leaves is of fundamental importance and is known as Mitragynine. The mitragynine extract does work as an opioid. This extract behaves as a stimulant and helps reduce various mental problems/illnesses like stress, anxiety, low energy, etc. In early times, laborers from their native country used mitragynine extract as a traditional remedy to boost energy and relax their moods in the evenings after work.

The Varying Kratom Strains Available

Kratom contains many types of strains with different qualities and benefits. They can be of five types which are -:

Red vein – the best among all.

Green vein – most pleasing one.

Bentuangie Kratom – calming nature.

Yellow vein – improves your mood.

A person can use any strain depending on the need of the hour and find the most suitable one for yourself.

How Can Kratom Boost Your Energy And Mood?

Increases Sleep

Sleep has a critical role in a healthy lifestyle. A good sleep cycle can entrust the brain/mind to heal and allow you to wake up fresh and ready every day.

The mitragynine extract present in the plant helps the body slow down the metabolism and ease up the overthinking process of the brain. It induces a trance-like situation that makes the consumer dizzy and proves to be very helpful in cases of insomnia. The elements present in mitragynine extract act as a stimulant, which can be a good substitute for antidepressants. In the current scenario, consumers are leaning more towards herbal/organic products to avoid unnecessary side effects and reactions from allopathic drugs. Many celebrities have also used strains of Kratom and also promoted them.

Increases Energy

Regardless of age, sex, or religion, more than seventy million Americans suffer from sleep problems. And the shortage of sleep is directly related to troubles that decrease your energy, like mental illnesses, poor quality of life, etc. And when such hazards stay in a body for an extended time, it leads to tiredness and lack of attention. White Vein Kratom has properties to boost your energy, which can further help in mood enhancement. One can get it in many types, like White Thai Kratom, White Sumatra Kratom, and White Vein Indo. Users can find the most suitable type for them. Kratom powder is a better alternative than sleeping pills (allopathic drugs) in terms of any side effects and is inexpensive from pills.

Decreases Stress

Approximately more than fifty-five percent of the total citizens of the United States of America suffer from mental illnesses during the day. No one wants to start a day with stress, overthinking, and other mental ailments. So, Kratom-based products can help the user start the day on a positive note with a hundred percent efficiency, so they can focus on their work and not other unrelated things. White vein Kratom has proven helpful for people who feel anxiety daily and cannot stop stressful thoughts throughout the day. The mitragynine extract helps reduce Cortisol(the anxiety hormone), which increases blood glucose levels whenever we feel stressed out.

Conclusion

The market of organic-based products in America is valued at more than twenty billion dollars and is continuing to expand like anything. So if you have any doubts about white vein or Kratom-based products, then you might have to reconsider that thought. The government is also passing approvals and making laws for easy production and distribution of these products without any hassle-tassels. Remember that a user can consume it in fixed doses only. Excessive consumption can lead to an addiction. The best thing about Kratom products is that their market is still new. Next, we need trials that dive deeper into the benefits of the best white kratom strain and its derivatives. It will only invite more vendors and participants in the future. It will improve the quality of Kratom further, placing it as an excellent competitor to Marijuana-based products.

CBD a chemical found in the Cannabis sativa plant; also popular as Hemp. According to studies CBD oil helps to treat pain, anxiety & stress. Today below we will discuss how cbd oil helps to reduce the stress.

CBD or Cannabidiol is the most loved cannabinoid nowadays. After being extracted from the hemp plant, CBD oil is transformed into products of different kinds for the users. Its diverse effects and purposes make it suitable for use in various medical conditions. Various studies suggest that it’s quite safe for users of all ages.

CBD is used to cope with different health conditions, including mental disorders and discomforts. Even if you’re not going through any proper mental ailments diagnosed by a doctor, suffering from daily stress is normal. This fast and mechanical life brings various challenges and targets to meet every day.

Today, stress management is a real thing, and users then go for heavy medications that leave various side effects, including sedation, memory loss, and headaches. These medications do not cater to the root causes. They only tend to suppress the symptoms for some time. CBD helps manage these problems. Does CBD oil help to relax you? Stick around to learn more.

How Does CBD Affect Stress and Mood?

It’s interesting to learn how CBD affects your body. It helps deal with various conditions by hitting up the root causes. How does CBD relax you? CBD is a cannabinoid and affects the endocannabinoid system, and interacts with the cannabinoid receptors of the body.

The Endocannabinoid System of the body regulates various mechanisms of the body, including sleep cycles, appetite, hormone production, and moods. Here hormone production is a key point to understand. Hormones play a prime role in your moods and behaviors; that sudden crying spell or rush that gets you furious is all due to hormones. That sudden happiness, too, is because of hormones. Serotonin is a pretty known hormone. It’s also called the happy hormone, which tends to induce feelings of happiness and joy.

CBD regulates all these mechanisms in your body, which in turn alleviates stress and regulates your mood swings. CBD is also used to improve conditions in pets that involve stress.

The Science Behind Stress

To understand how CBD might help with stress, we first need to look at what’s going on in our bodies when we’re stressed out. When we encounter a stressful situation, our body’s fight-or-flight response kicks into gear. This triggers a cascade of hormones, including cortisol and adrenaline, which prepare us to face the perceived threat.

In small doses, this stress response can be helpful – sharpening our focus and giving us a burst of energy. But when stress becomes chronic, it can lead to all sorts of problems, including:

Anxiety and depression

Sleep disturbances

Digestive issues

Weakened immune system

Cardiovascular problems

Memory and concentration difficulties

Clearly, finding ways to manage stress is crucial for our overall health and wellbeing. This is where CBD oil comes into play.

How CBD Interacts with Our Stress Response

Remember that endocannabinoid system we mentioned earlier? It turns out this complex network of receptors and signaling molecules plays a crucial role in regulating our stress response. CBD interacts with this system in several ways that may help to calm our overactive stress reactions:

Serotonin Boost: CBD has been shown to interact with serotonin receptors in the brain. Serotonin is often called the “feel-good” neurotransmitter, and having balanced levels is important for mood regulation and stress resilience.

Cortisol Control: Some studies suggest that CBD may help to lower cortisol levels in the body. Since cortisol is one of the primary stress hormones, reducing its presence could help to dampen the physiological stress response.

GABA Enhancement: CBD may increase the availability of GABA in the brain. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps to calm excessive brain activity and promote relaxation.

Anandamide Influence: CBD can boost levels of anandamide, an endocannabinoid known as the “bliss molecule.” Higher anandamide levels are associated with improved mood and reduced anxiety.

Neurogenesis Support: Some research indicates that CBD may promote the growth of new neurons in the hippocampus, a brain region involved in stress regulation and emotional processing.

Benefits of CBD Oil for Stress

Stress is affecting almost everyone today. Sometimes it leads to minor issues such as sleeping disorders, while other times, it might also come up as anxiety or depression. If not managed timely, it might increase and complicate things for you.

Stress makes it difficult for people to fall asleep and take good sleep. CBD is being used in different bedtime products that help them sleep well. CBD directly affects the endocannabinoid system and interacts with the adenosine receptors to regulate sleep. Also, it doesn’t develop any addiction or dependency.

Studies confirm anxiolytic and antidepressant effects of CBD products. It regulates the production of serotonin to induce feelings of joy and reduce stress.

CBD helps to calm you down in stressful situations and improves cognitive function in stress conditions that are otherwise hard for people to cope up.

Final Thoughts

CBD comes in various forms for people of all ages and medical conditions. The products widely vary, including gummies, tinctures, oils, and edibles.

In our fast-paced, always-connected world, finding effective ways to manage stress is more important than ever. CBD oil offers a natural, non-intoxicating option that may help to restore balance and promote a sense of calm in the face of life’s challenges.

Of course, CBD isn’t a magic cure-all, and it may not work the same way for everyone. But for many people, it’s become an invaluable tool in their stress-management toolkit. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and looking for a natural way to find some peace, CBD oil might just be worth a try.

Remember to approach CBD use mindfully – start with a high-quality product, begin with a low dose, and pay attention to how your body responds. And as always, if you’re dealing with severe or chronic stress, it’s important to work with a healthcare professional to develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
